Relic III
Pewter cast from cuttlefish
Relic III is a sculptural work cast in pewter using a traditional cuttlefish mould. This method leaves the metal with natural striations and organic markings unique to each piece. The form draws on the ceremonial landscapes of Wayland’s Smithy, West Kennet Long Barrow, and Bryn Celli Ddu, echoing the votive objects and mythic tools associated with these ancient sites.
The surface holds the marks of the maker along with the ridges of the cuttlefish bone, giving the pewter a geological, time‑worn presence. It feels like something unearthed and tactile, with the satisfying weight of metal.
For collectors, Relic III offers a contemporary interpretation of prehistoric ritual objects an intimate fragment that bridges time.
